past the graveyard
past the earthly glow
my body is an ear following the trails home

when faced with love,
hatred or corruption
my body is an ear listening to what’s below

my limbs, my chest, my neck
the 4 epileptic seizures
of my youth,
when showering with strangers
eyes closed -
it’s the water i sought, not the lovers
my body is an ear

there’s no pavement past this mission,
no beating ‘round the bushes:
my body’s asked to go home
so many times
that home in its entirety
became the prison entirely
